Why the iPad Is My New Laptop →
As I said, more and more people are using an iPad as a computer. Some people are more extreme than the other. This post is quite balance, he can’t do everything, but the iPad seems more practicle in many situation.

Yield Thought: I swapped my MacBook for an... →
Wow, this is almost what I’ve imagined. Using an iPad taken to the extreme. Seems to work great for that guy.
yieldthought:
On September 19th, I said goodbye to my trusty MacBook Pro and started developing exclusively on an iPad + Linode 512. This is the surprising story of a month spent working in the cloud.
It all started when I bought my first MacBook a couple of years ago....

A really nice way to encrypt a simple text file on the fly.
jasonseney:
If you’ve ever want to save sensitive text on your computer - encrypting it is the only way to ensure it is secure. Using vim and gpg we can open, edit, and save only the encrypted file and leave nothing in plain text on the hard drive.
Note: In order to run gpg on OS X, you’ll need to first…
On the last day notes...
I’ve come to realized that I’m a bitchy bastard. And I would certainly unfollow myself or others from Twitter or any other social network for less than what I’ve wrote.
So, in the future, if I don’t have anything good or nice to say, I shouldn’t write it online.
I just need to remember this. That is all.
My Bell DSL adventure
You’re always satisfied until you experience a problem with a paying service. I had great internet service and nice speed.
That’s until yesterday midnight… While watching Netflix, everything stopped, my DSL line was dead. Went downstair, checked my modem, like WTF? Seemed ok, did a reset. My internet connection never came back. I got a solid DSL light, but no internet light....

Social Networks, should I or should I not?
I know peoples who don’t use social networks at all. They like their identity or life to be private. That’s their own thing, every one has their own opinion about what’s good to say or tell and what’s good to use or not.
I myself fully embrace social networks. Well I do to some extend. All the information I post there are normally public stuff. I sometime put my personal...
Things you should know...
I know them, but I still have trouble with them. I do get burn by them once in a while. That said, here are some rules of work / life. I may edit this post once in a while if I find something else that I need to learn or know.
This kind of list or post is some kind of popular on the Internet at the moment. I’m writing this for myself. You may find them interesting or not.

Leaving 2011 behind and welcoming 2012
I’ve read my last year resolution and I’ve done none of them. This is really too bad.
2011 wasn’t what I could say a good year. I was working for myself, had an easy gig and it was prematurely ended by the contractor. They found someone to take the job full time on their payroll. I can’t blame them, but that got me into finding a new job.
Got the best job that I...

Pogoplug #fail
So I got this Pogoplug in November. I haven’t used it much since then. First of all, I had trouble using it on my network. I got 2 internet connection and different computers on my network uses either one of them. So there is half my network that connect directly to my Pogoplug while the other half connect trough the net.
This is the first #fail. As If I can’t use it from anywhere on...
Went karting, crashed..! Taken with my GoProHD.
A small video done at Jay Peak with my GoPro HD cam. Footing wasn’t exceptional, but I made a small wipeout that is nice on video.

Second video shot with my GoProHD. I did the same run as last time, but instead of having my camera mounted on my chest, it was mounted on my helmet.
I got a GoProHD Hero last week. This is a small video footage done at Mont-St-Bruno. I was using a chest mount. So the angle is not as good as I would’ve like. Quality is pretty good for such a small camera.
The footage was then imported on my iPad and edited on the iPad with ReelDirector.
A small video done on my iPhone and edited with iMovie for iPhone. It was done last summer at the park near my parents summer house.
2011 New Year Resolutions
Last year, I had only 3 resolutions. I’ve only done 1.5 of them. I’ve been working for myself the whole year, and I lost some weight / started eating healthy. That last one, I can only say I did half of it. As I haven’t really lost much weight, but I did start to eat better.
This year, I’ve lost my dad due to some health issue, I need to get this in order for myself....

2010 is coming to an end...
It’s almost the end of 2010. This was one big year.
I’ve haven’t done much of what I wanted to do in my ‘new year resolutions’. I think this whole year went by too fast. I’ve moved in to my first house in December 2009. I’ve came back to freeleancing. Worked at 3 clients. Took 3 month forced vacation in July. This was one of the best summer from a long...
Bye Bye Del.icio.us
Looks like Yahoo is killing Delicious. This is what ppl where wondering yesterday morning. It has now been confirm. Techcrunch got the word back from Yahoo. This is bad, as more and more original services are being shutdown. It’s not rare to see a startup being acquire by a big company to be kill in the next 2 to 3 years late. It happen to some site on Google and now it does on Yahoo.

DodoCase #2
I’ve received my replacement Dodocase today. As you may recall, i’ve talked about my not too good experience from my first one, my DodoCase review. I got some attention while tweeting about it and comparing two case that looked the same.
DodoCase came out to me and offered to replace my original case. I’ve just received it like 30 minutes ago. Like a kid on Christmas,...
How the Pogoplug software works
I recently bought a Pogoplug, nice gadget, works well, but was slow on my network. I’ve contacted Pogoplug support. And here is how they told me there software works. I think it’s important to know because I might not be the only one with a special network setup.
1. When the Pogoplug comes online it attempts to check in with our central service. The external IP address of the...

Thanks, it was fun!
After 8 years as a subscriber of Easynews, I’ve decided to close my account. I haven’t been using it for at the minimun 1 year, but I would say at least 2 years. It was great, I could find almost anything, but I didn’t use it for all it’s value. And the thing is, paying for it at US10$ a month for something you don’t use, I could move that money to an other service...

iPad DodoCase
After thinking about it for quite some time, I finally bought a DodoCase for my iPad. I never had the chance to look at one or to hold one in my hand before placing the order. So I had to base my expectation on reviews / tales from sites like Twitter and Tuaw.
Now I had my case for 2 weeks, here are my observations.
First, this is probably the best looking case you can find for your iPad. I love...
Apple September First Event
iPods, Apple TV, the line almost got a full refreshment.
It’s nice to find FaceTime integrated with the new iPod Touch. That is really logical. Because my mom would never use an iPhone. She doesn’t have a plain cellphone. But an iPod touch could be really good for her to speak with her grand children’s. It will make a really nice present.
As for the Apple TV, I’m a bit...

iPad land
So I bought a new iPad yesterday. I wanted to get the 3G model. My previous one worked great, but I needed to use it while not in a wifi coverage area. Having the 3G gives me a lots of freedom.
I’ve been using it for 2 days and I already passed the 250 megs cap… A good thing that I took the 5 gigs data plan. I never thought that I would use that much data.

iPad case
I’ve had my iPad since launch day. I’m in Canada, so I bought one from a fellow who went to the States to get one.
I didn’t have any protecting case for 2 month. I didn’t wanted to order one online and I was able to wait for supply to come to Canada. In that time, my iPad mostly stayed at home that whole time. I did find some pretty nice cases on the net. One of the best...
iPad apps
I might start making posts about iPhone / iPad apps that I’ve bought. I don’t normally buy a lot of apps, but these apps are so good and are cheap that I don’t see why I wouldn’t buy them.

AirVideo - Best way to share video from your computer to your iPad / iPhone, it does...

Android Land
“Android Land” will probably be a series of post regarding my finding / hints on Android based phones.
I just purchased a new Nexus One. It’s my second one as I had the T-Mobile, aws band version when it got out. I now have the AT&T version that has 3G working in Canada.
With my first one, I had some anoyance with the fact that SMS notification didn’t vibrate at all....

I dipped my toe in Android land
I’ve been using a Google Nexus One phone since 3 days. I’m using it exclusively, keeping my iPhone 3GS without a sim card and power off at home. This is a nice experience because I was always curious about this new phone os. I never tried version 1.x, so I can’t tell how much it evolve since day one. What I can say for now, I like it. But there are a few things that I would like...
Weewar Stats
For almost a year, I’ve been playing Weewar, an online game based on Advanced War for the Nintendo DS. It’s a turn base game that you receive email when it’s your turn to play. It got chat, around 12 types of units, air, land and sea, it’s really cool and fun. You should try it. I’m “optikz” in the game, friend me up and let’s play.

Jolicloud on my Sony Vaio P
Well my Vaio P has been gathering dust from quite some time now. I’ve stop using it as it was too slow and even in Linux, I wasn’t really satisfied. I’ve been waiting for some time to try something new on it, but the Intel GMA500 video card is kind of keeping me away from a lot of distro / options.
Jolicloud looked promising, but it took them like 2-3 month to release a GMA 500...
2010 resolutions
This year, I’ll make things simple… As making a list of things I want to achieve is probably one of the worst thing you can do. Last year I only did 3 things out of 9. Maybe 9 was too much. Thinking about it, it should not, cause you have 12 month to do stuff. You could spread it all over evenly and be able to do one thing a month. But history says it doesn’t work. So...

Looking back on 2009
Let’s have a look back at the big highlights of 2009.
Olivier my second child (last one) was born on the August 31.
I’ve bought a house in Montreal.
I’ve lost a job, but I’ve reinstated my personal company and started to work for myself. This is good as I found a consulting gig 2 weeks down the road. I will now work on stuff that matters to me.
As for my 2009...

Password security
I had a talk lately about password. People are asking me, what are good password? Well let me tell you how I create my random password that I use. I have 3 rules to create them.
It needs to be longer than 8 chars. 10 chars is a sweet spot.
It needs to contain numbers, extended chars and letters. All of those!
Extended chars and numbers need not to be use to end the password, some of those...
