Online web apps.
I’ve been looking around online apps like in my last post. It’s been a while now, at least half a month, and I can say that it works for me.
I dont use that much apps every day, only a handfull. I’m not someone who do a lot of documentation, I have Microsoft Office installed only for reading received documents. I rather use Page from Apple. It’s smaller, faster, lean and just plain works. I dit try out Google docs, but reading Word documents, it just not that great. The formating on a fax sheet is wrong. I will try to give it an other shot later on, but for now, I didn’t need to do any text editing other than coding.
I will still use some offline apps, I can’t look away from Textmate, Photoshop, Aperture, and some small shareware.
All in all, everything is good. I’m still working as before and I’m not missing anything. I’m rarelly offline, maybe at my parent’s cottage, but it doesn’t seem that bad for now. I did go there last weekend, I didn’t even use my computer once. It will be different this summer as I’m taking 3 months off of work. I will be there more often. I think I’ll be looking into alternative way to go online. Maybe I’ll be investing in a telephone modem.
Ouch, going back to stone age! ;-)
